The Royal Oak building still features a handsome tiled exterior. It goes back to at least 1872 and used to be two storeys but was bombed in the second World War.
Ang Wilko remembers: “My dad made that place a little goldmine, fantastic weekends with live singers and fresh seafood for all to enjoy, also no trouble it was all laughter and happiness in 2000.”
